Ashley Adamo
Ashley Adamo is from Salisbury, Maryland, and has always had a love for hair, makeup, and nails. Ashley Adamo, described as the “Natural,” was the go-to girl in high school and now today for updos, extensions, styling, and all things beauty.
Ashley graduated from Salisbury University with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature. Ashley loves cooking, shopping, reading, and binging on Netflix.
Ashley decided to pursue her dream of becoming a hairstylist in her late 20’s. Ashley’s success is primarily due to a desire to succeed, a strong work ethic, and a passion for hair. Ashley has been cutting hair professionally now for over a decade. You can find her at Mane Addiction Studio in Frederick, Maryland, when she is not teaching or taking continuing education classes.
Ashley specializes in blonde hair color, textured bobs, long layers, and pixies, but haircutting will always be her one true love. A class with her will bring a smile to your face, newfound techniques, and applicable business skills you can use today.
Ashley says, “I truly believe, if you look and feel beautiful on the outside, it makes you confident and happy on the inside. I’m just trying to spread happiness, one beautiful head of hair at a time.”

Ashley loves the HHP Pai Mei . Her favorite utilization of the HHP is for blunt, precise lines throughout a haircut.
The HH1 Kamikaze is one of Ashley’s favorite shears. She loves to use it particularly for finishing, sliding and creating soft lines.

What has been the most pivotal moment in your career?
New York IBS Hair show 6 years ago; bought my first 2 Hanzos. Got better and more confident with cutting and then Hanzo made my stylist dreams come true by being an educator.
Who inspired you to join the hair industry?
I guess myself. I always loved hair, makeup, and nails. After college and various careers, I figured it’s never too late and I want to do what I want for a living and make people beautiful.
In your opinion, what is the hardest part of being a Hair Professional?
Clients with unrealistic expectations can be hard bc I need to convince them why x, y and z can’t be achieved in one session.
What is your favorite part about being a Hanzo Educator?
I’m a part of something bigger, Hanzonation. Traveling and teaching. Spreading joy and knowledge.
What is your favorite service to do and why?
Dry cuts! All-day, every day. I love color too but cutting, I have complete control. Color, I am subject to the hair cooperating.
What is your least favorite service to do and why?
Mens cuts. I’m very good at them, but they tend to bore me.
What is something unique you teach in your Hanzo classes?
Curtain bangs/face framing layers
What can our readers expect to learn most from you in a Hanzo class?
VISUAL TEXTURE AND HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO EVERY CUT FROM A PIXIE TO A BOB TO LONG LAYERS.
How long did it take you to become an educator in the industry and what was your breakthrough moment?
8 years; I was already a successful Hanzo rep and I asked to teach a random class in a small town bc I didn’t have an educator in town that day.
What advice do you have for hair professionals wanting to become educators in the industry?
Learn from other educators; from their techniques, to their teaching styles and personal story telling.
What advice do you have for hair professionals in general?
Never stop learning and growing! It’ll keep you on the top of your game, current with trends and also keep you hungry and passionate, which clients will appreciate.
What is your favorite dessert?
Banana pudding. It’s sweet but light.
If you could travel to a different time, when would you choose?
The 70’s. Peace, love and rock and roll.
What motivates you in life?
Providing for my family, success and happiness. Money doesn’t buy it, but it helps me live the life I wanna live.
If you had to describe yourself in 3 words, what would they be?
Driven, Goofy, Caring
What is something no one would guess about you?
I’m almost 5 years sober
What is your spirit animal?
A dog, loving, smart, and loyal.
