Steve Wren is a multiple award-winning barber, hair studio owner, and the creator of the FadeAway Barber & Beauty Expo. He established FadeAway Barber & Beauty Expo in 2015 in order to showcase the talents of students, professional barbers, and cosmetologists in partnership with some of Chicago’s hottest fashion designers.

As the owner of Steven Brandon Hair Studio located in Bloomingdale, IL. Steve understands the value of mentor-ship based relationships which enables him to impact multiple people throughout the hair and beauty industry. During his career as “Mr. Wren Cuts” Steve has worked on fashion shows, photo shoots, platform education, and as a professional mentor of barber and beauty school students within the midwest.

As of 2020, Steve was selected out of 15,000+ Sola Salon suite owners to be featured as 1 out of 20 of the Faces of Sola 2020. He joined the Sexy Hair family as an educator and platform artist, was featured in an article in “Men’s Health” Magazine and most recently was the Co-Mc of 2021 Sola Sessions Reconnected. In all things that Steven Wren does, he does it with purpose, passion and proficiency.

Professionally 8 years!!

Clipper over comb fading technique.

My father

What was the scariest thing about starting on the floor at a salon or barbershop after graduating school?

My first day was terrifying. Cutting hair next to the owner and in a room surrounded by experienced barbers was nerve wracking. I was very inexperienced so the pressure I felt was real.

What is your least favorite service to do?

Coloring hair

If you had to describe yourself as a pizza what toppings would you have and why?

A supreme pizza because, it’s well balanced ingredients and nothing offensive on it.

Who inspires you?

I am inspired by people that continuously are growing, innovative and moving forward within their life.

I worked in hospice and Alzheimer’s care for 5 years.

The most exciting thing you’ve ever done?

Portraying a barber on the hit tv show Empire.

Any time away from my business.
