THREE WORDS TO DESCRIBE ANTHONY: Fun, Driven, Insightful
Master barber Anthony Costa, owner of Skip’s Barbershop, knows that everybody wants to look fresh. For over a decade, Anthony has made sure every cut gets the time and attention it deserves. Every client receives good humor and conversation they have come to expect. A friend, confidant, and craftsman, Anthony will leave you looking sharp and feeling good. Anthony has been behind the chair for 12 years. He was inspired to become a barber after his friend encouraged him to give it a try. After barber school, Anthony worked in a shop in the South End of Boston, where a Master barber took him under his wing and mentored him for two years. He then went on a year-long road trip, and when he returned, he worked at a shop in Southie for five years. Anthony made friends with Skip Scaro, a third-generation barber and barbershop owner who, at 70, was still cutting hair. He told Anthony he couldn’t stop working because that meant his barbershop, which had been in his family for over a hundred years, would have to close. When he passed away at age 79, Anthony took over his shop, renovated it, and kept the name. The barbershop has kept his legacy alive and let Anthony live out his longtime dream of having a shop of his own. After a year, the business was successful enough that Anthony was able to open a second location in Boston.
Favorite Hanzo Shear: HHP & HHVT1
It’s a tie between the HHP Paimei and the HHVT1 Mamba Texturizer. The HHP Paimei are the sharpest shears I’ve ever used. They hold their edge and give a perfectly straight cut. The HHVT1 Mamba Texturizers are just a game-changer. They let you point-cut on the fly and do quick, precise texturizing work.
