To whom it may concern,
My name is Seth Yance and I am a haircutter based out of Milwaukee, WI. At the age of five I started my hair career. With my father being a Sassoon trained hairdresser, I spent my childhood in salons where I would be tasked with all of the “fun” duties associated with the salon which included sweeping, organizing pin kits, and cleaning up.
After a year of studying business, I found myself at the Aveda Institute of Beauty and Wellness where I acquired my cosmetology license. During my time at IBW I was fortunate enough to work on advanced haircutting techniques with world renowned stylists such as Ricardo Dinis and John Reyman. I had found my passion for haircutting which then lead me continue my education with Sassoon after graduating. I went to Sassoon Miami where I trained under Susie Kim, Pascal Bodin, and Martyn Duff. Not only did I learn how to be a successful stylist, but also a successful educator. Due to the Sassoon brand losing esteem, the Miami salon/academy was one of the first to close. I decided to stay in Miami and work at Sean Donaldson, under ex Sassoon Creative Director Keith Ayotte.
A few months later I was asked by Ezel Mustafa, the International Editorial Director of Sachajuan, to be his new assistant. For the next five months I worked with him in the film industry. After that job, I relocated to New York City where I worked at Sally Hershberger | Tim Rogers salon, where I assisted both Sally and Tim. Through this experience I was able to work on editorial shoots with the best photographers in the world, including Annie Leibovitz. I found a passion for editorial and worked on campaigns such as Polo Ralph Lauren, films, music videos, education, etc. During this time, I also became a North American Educator for Sachajuan and worked on their creative team.
I have now moved back to Milwaukee where I have to opportunity to work side by side with my father at Scottfree Salon. Here I am able to bring my knowledge and experience to my fellow stylists.
This is where I was able to meet Cole and Pete and to get my hands on some Hanzos. After three months I’ve completely fell in love the shears and their versatility. I look forward to potentially brining my knowledge to the Hanzo team as well as gaining much more!
