Description
The Hattori Hanzo HH88 Eighty-Eights series are an outstanding choice in shears for both wet and dry cutting. We craft the HH88 from a specialized high-carbon Japanese stainless steel, and this line features four shear lengths, dual removable tangs, straight handles, and a tried-and-true zero-offset ring configuration. And while the offset may be zero, the finger positioning for the HH88 series is still highly ergonomic, with a distinctively molded ring shape for much more comfortable finger placement. Cutters who are Vidal Sassoon trained will immediately recognize its style and feel right at home with this shear. The Eighty-Eights are classic haircutting shears “with a twist” that you simply have to try for yourself.
Countersunk locking tension control

I’ve been using Hanzo 88 shears since they were first released and have been a loyal customer since 2018, owning multiple pairs. Unfortunately, my recent experience with the company has completely changed my opinion. About a month ago, I sent my 88s in for sharpening. They were returned feeling as though they hadn’t been sharpened at all. I sent them back a second time with the same result, and after a third sharpening, they still aren’t performing as they should. Throughout the process, three different representatives reached out to apologize, but at no point did anyone offer to replace the shears or provide a meaningful solution, despite Hanzo advertising a lifetime warranty. When I asked about a warranty replacement, I was told they couldn’t locate my proof of purchase, even though the shears were purchased directly through a Hanzo sales representative. Based on my experience, I haven’t noticed any difference in steel quality that justifies the premium price. After years of supporting the brand, I’ve decided to move on. A lifetime warranty only has value if the company stands behind it. My advice to anyone considering Hanzo is simple: do your research carefully before spending your money.
