Damon Footer began his hairdressing career at Vidal Sassoon in London in 1987. In 1991 he moved to the United States to work at Carlton Hair in Los Angeles. In 2003 he played a crucial role in the opening of Carlton Hair’s first full time academy, where he worked as the Artistic Director. In this role he developed an education program that served as a launch point for many hundreds of hairdressers with a simple approach to haircutting, coloring and styling. His dedication to his team has allowed him the opportunity to travel across Europe and the States working with Bumble & Bumble and at the Alexandre De Paris Academy in Paris. His work has appeared in Vogue, Elle, and Harper’s Bazaar, as well as industry magazines such as American Salon, Modern Salon and the cover of Hairdressers Journal. In 2012 he took on the position as head of education at the Regis Corporation where he put together nationwide education programs for a number of different brands. In 2014 he opened Rua Salon in Studio City where he works as the Creative Director, dedicating much of his time to education. As a stylist behind the chair he finds great inspiration in working with the local artistic community and continues to be passionate about our ever-changing craft.
